CHOICE: The Comparative Health Outcomes in Immune-mediated disease CollaborativE Study

Help researchers understand the effectiveness of your treatments. Join our treatment effectiveness study!

As a patient-centered research registry, the VPPRN focuses on research that matters to you. One of the biggest concerns we've heard from patients is understanding how well and how quickly a treatment will work.

That's why we're excited to launch a new study in partnership with researchers at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Study Overview:

The goal is to understand how different treatments work for different people. Your experience can help researchers understand how effective and safe are treatments for vasculitis.

We hope that our findings help patients make better treatment decisions with their doctor.

Aims of the study:

To evaluate the comparative clinical effectiveness of various biologic and other medications as assessed through data provided by patients.

What To Expect:

Here's what to expect when you join this study titled the Comparative Health Outcomes in Immune-medicated diseases CollaborativE (CHOICE) study:

  1. Consent to participate in the CHOICE study.
    1. Sign into your MyVPPRN, or sign up for the VPPRN if you are not currently a participant.
    2. Once you are logged in, click on the CHOICE study tab and consent to participate.
    3. In addition to being a VPPRN member, you’re now a participant in this study to understand how different treatments work for different people.
  2. You'll then be encouraged to add or update your current medication information every 30 days (that is only once a month!) in your secure MyVPPRN portal. If you're on the same medication as before, no changes are necessary.
  3. You’ll also be encouraged to complete your VPPRN health assessments at least once a month for 6-12 months.

By taking these three actions, you're participating in this important study. Thanks to your participation, we'll be able to analyze how different treatments affect issues like pain, sleep, and fatigue.

As always, your information is stored confidentially, and your name will never be associated with any data we analyze.

What You Need To Know:

  • Your information will be stored in our secure database and kept confidential to the extent permitted by law.
  • Taking part in the study is your choice.
  • You can withdraw from the study at any time.
  • Your decision whether or not to take part in the study will not change your medical care or benefits.
